What has been happening at Ravel…

We’ve been quiet on the blog and social media outlets lately..but for good reasons!  Here is a quick update of what has been happening at Ravel over the past couple months and what we have to look forward to!

1.  WE HAVE MOVED!

At the end of February we said goodbye to our beautiful Pawtucket studio, which will always have a place in our hearts since it is where all of our first year’s work was created!

move_02

But remember…change is vital to growth!  So we found an equally, if not more beautiful location in Providence!  We packed up our things…

move_01

[Dramatic, I know.. But this really was the smallest truck they had that day..]

move_08

…and we moved to the gorgeous Fox Point area of Providence’s East Side!

Here is a sign I liked posted in Gallery Belleau’s window on Wickenden Street:

move_09

I think we will fit in well over here…

move_03

The studio was a little messy for a while…

move_04

…but I am starting to get organized again!

2.  WE ADOPTED!

On March 14th, we had the honor of adopting this handsome fellow, Titan, saved by a rescue group in Rhode Island from being euthanized down south.

move_05

He looks tough, but he is a big sweetheart.  You may meet him at some of our sales this summer/fall!  And if you have not met Lawrence, the other handsome fellow above, at a sale before, he is Ravel’s official media guru, salesman, personal assistant, chef, etc.  He owns the Rhode Island Rebellion Rugby League Team and the non-profit, AYRLA (both of which I mention frequently).  Lots of good things are happening with both of those and are worth checking out! (I also do the web design and merchandising for both groups.)

You may have caught the Rebellion of the cover of this month’s issue of Providence Monthly.. if you haven’t.. pick one up! It’s free and it is a fantastic magazine filled with great things happening in the state.

3.  WE CELEBRATED!

Lots of good things were happening for Lawrence and I, so we celebrated at one of our favorite restaurants… Nick’s on Broadway, Providence, RI!

move_06

Nick’s never falls short of perfect.  Every bit of their dishes are thoughtfully prepared and presented beautifully (and as a designer, I know/believe how important presentation is). PLUS, they use local, fresh, and organic ingredients! :)  You must try if you have not yet.  NOTE: Their brunch is also incredible.

move_07

I also gave this fantastic card to Lawrence, made by The Brocade Blackbird whom I had the pleasure of meeting at a sale last year!  She has some lovely work that you should also check out. She is also a local, based in Massachusetts.

4.  WE SHIPPED!

We added two more countries to our list of sales overseas: Greece and Ireland!

move_10

It is just so exciting to know our work is all over the world! :)

5.  OUR FIRST SALE OF 2013

Yes, it is that time of year again.. and it feels like the holiday season just ended!

Our first sale of 2013 will be the RISD Spring Sale on Benefit Street in Providence, RI.

Saturday, May 4th @ 10-4

move_12

Our booth will be in front of the RISD Museum.  See you there!

5.  BUY ART

Since we are now based in Providence, we have the pleasure of participating in the BUY ART campaign.

buyart

We will have BUY ART buttons available with every purchase at the RISD Sale!

Titan has been tired since the move and all…

move_11

…but don’t worry, we will be ready for the sale and with some new items debuting that you MAY have caught a sneak peek of on etsy or facebook…  ;)

We hope you are as excited as we are for all these new changes and updates.

xo. Colette

Our first holiday season has come to an end…

Obviously this holiday season has been so busy for Ravel… we haven’t blogged since October!  I would like this blog post to be a special “thank you” to all the fans and supporters of Ravel Studio!

Our final shows of the year were at the RISD Alumni Holiday Sale at the Convention Center in Downtown Providence and at an in-home holiday market in Massachusetts hosted by the wonderfully talented Colleen Ellse of Letter & Lark.

Since I started Ravel in January 2012 and my first sale in May, the company has grown and my designs have expanded into a strong collection of work that I am proud to call my own and to have completed in this short amount of time.  It is with all the help and support of the friends, family, and fans who have motivated me to make this all happen, and I am forever grateful for all of you!  Thank you for making my first few months as an entrepreneur unforgettable!

Now I will be preparing for the 2013 season and creating some new designs (Stay tuned for sneak peeks!).  In the meantime, I have put together a catalog of all Ravel’s 2012 designs, which are still available to purchase before/after the holiday.  You can download the catalog on the website (www.ravelstudio.com) and place orders via email/phone.

Also, you can come in to the studio to shop!  Just because our big shows are over, doesn’t mean you can’t still get our products!  Weekly facebook updates will inform you of our hours.  We are located at 560 Mineral Spring Ave, Pawtucket, RI 02860 Unit BF116.  (Drive down the hill to the side parking lot next to the train tracks.  Our studio is the third green door under the saw tooth roof with lights on the railing.  Our sign is in the window!)

Thank you again and Happy Holidays!

Love,

Colette.

AYRLA : Doing Good in the Community

Last weekend a wonderful charity event was held at the Cranston Country Club for the American Youth Rugby League Association (AYRLA). AYRLA is a not for profit corporation that works to develop youth by providing role models and encouraging teamwork, “rebelling against at-risk-behavior”.  AYRLA partners with the USA Rugby League and is currently being run in Rhode Island and Philadelphia.  The Rhode Island division is run by Lawrence Almagno, CEO of the Rhode Island Rebellion.  Programs are currently being held at Providence Middle Schools and the Training School, and soon will include Providence High Schools as well.

This charity event was a golf tournament organized by Michael Kelly, featuring competitions, raffles, sponsored holes, dinner, and prizes.  It was a cloudy day and a little chilly, but everyone was happy to be there and had a great time!

Special thanks to the Cranston Country Club, Mike Kelly, and all the fantastic, generous people who donated to this event!
