The Beauty of Pawtucket

This weekend Ravel had a fantastic sale (our best yet!) at the Arts Marketplace:Pawtucket! It was held as part of the Pawtucket Arts Festival which is hosting lots if great activities and events throughout the month of September. It is it’s 14th year but this was the first time the marketplace was held. It took place at the Armory and featured great local artists creating beautiful work. Also, next door were open studios as well as at other locations in the city.

Experience Pawtucket was there as well, showcasing the great things happening and in progress around the historic city!

The city of Pawtucket has so much history, beauty, and potential that this thrills me that we have wonderful people working to improve and grow what we already have.

Up Next: Slater Fall Festival Saturday and Sunday September 15th & 16th.

Special Thanks to those who made last weekend wonderful, including the Pawtucket Arts Committee, all the customers, and Ravel’s personal supporters!

Making Pretend

Unfortunately, the Etsy site has not been updated yet as promised and I am terribly sorry for the delay.. but the good news is that it is for a great reason.  Other than Ravel Studio, I also work for a company called Ten31 Productions, where I perform and produce events as “living art”. You can see and read more at the website above and I highly recommend that you do!

Recently, work has been very busy and I was lucky enough to work an event in Philadelphia at Independence Hall with 4 bronze statues of historic figures: Betsy Ross, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Ben Franklin. I hadn’t been to Philadelphia before but it looks like a beautiful city and I definitely hope to go back soon as a tourist! At Independence Hall there is a room called the Signers’ Hall with a couple dozen life-size bronze statues scattered throughout. Our performers ventured through this room during the evening… see if you can spot who is real and who isn’t!

The detailing on these statues (designed and sculpted by a team of 50 artists) in 2003 (?) is incredible!

My favorite one was Alexander Hamilton:

And here is a view from our hotel of the lighting over the city:

Beautiful!

You can see Ten31 perform at Waterfire in Providence, Fanueil Hall in Boston, and Roger Williams Park Zoo, as well as other various events which can be found on their website’s calendar.
